Spirit Seeker Summer Kid’z Kamp

 

Check out this sneak preview of the 2012 summer Spirit Seeker Kid'z Kamp activity schedule. Remember, this is only a sneak peek. Event details may change, be sure to check back soon, or call us for more details. Kid'z Kamp will run on weekends in June. Kid'z Kamp is $25 + HST per child for one 3-hour activity, or $20 + HST for two or more 3-hour activities.

 

Monday Kamps

Intro to Horses & Roping
When: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Where: Nk’Mip Stables (250.495.7555 or 250.689.0946)
This is a great opportunity for Kampers to see and experience what it takes to care for horses. Activities will include feeding and brushing the horses, and learning how to halter and saddle a horse for riding. Kampers will also get the chance to learn about the time-honoured tradition of roping through games and activities that will test their new found skill! This fun experience will be topped off with a horse ride on the stable grounds.

Fiesta Dinner Party
When: 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Spirit Room
Kampers will get together in the conference centre for an evening that includes a taco bar, Latin music, and a Mexican-inspired craft.

 

Tuesday Kamps

Coyote Crafts & the Okanagan Language
When: 2:00pm-5:00pm
Where: Cultural Centre (Barbara 250-495-7901)
Kampers will enjoy an afternoon spent learning about one of the area’s most important species – snakes. Overcome your fear of this desert predator, and learn about seven other snakes at the Snake’s Alive! Program. Kampers will then have fun creating their own unique culturally themed trinket, from talking sticks to puppets, and possibly sporting some cool “war paint” by the end of the visit. Kampers will learn greetings in the Okanagan Language.

Pizza, Pyjamas and a Movie

When - 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Where - Spirit Room
Kampers will enjoy cheese or pepperoni pizza with soft drinks followed by a classic children’s movie.

 

Wednesday Kamps

The Pow Wow Express
When: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Where: Cultural Centre (Barbara 250-495-7901)
Kampers will learn to make their own aboriginal drumstick and create music on a traditional hand drum. Following the drumming kampers will go on a guided cultural walk through the desert and visit a replica native village.

Chaptik Stories and Adventures
When: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Where: Cultural Centre (Barbara 250-495-7901)
Kampers will enjoy an afternoon by attending the Amphibian show, where they will learn about various species that inhabit the extreme desert eco system, their significance to determine global health and the consequent habitat destruction that is devastating their populations. From there we will venture to a replica pit house and hear traditional stories of the past and have an opportunity to make a culturally-based craft.

 

Thursday Kamps

Cookies & Crafts
When: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Where: Spirit Room
Kampers will make their own batch of cookies (shapes, toppings). Recycled Crafts

Backwards Dinner & a Movie
When: 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Spirit Room
Enjoy the evening’s activities in backwards order! Wear your clothes backwards, while enjoying the evening’s menu in backwards order! Have your ice cream first, then your chicken fingers and fries. Dinner will be followed by a classic age appropriate movie.

 

Friday Kamps

Intro to Helicopters & Ball Hockey
When: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Where: Nk’Mip Helicopter Pad (Adam Sloan 250-498-9441)
A licensed helicopter pilot will teach the Kampers the ins and outs of flying a helicopter. They will have a chance to sit in the pilot’s cockpit with all of the gear and equipment fit for a high-flight adventure. After the Kampers’ training, they will receive their “Honorary Pilots License” to show their friends and family. While waiting for their turns on the helicopter Kampers will have some fun playing ball hockey on the flat grounds at the helicopter pad.

Intro Boat Safety & Water Sports with Water Tubing
When: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Where: Spirit Beach with Wakepilot (Rob Rausch 250-408-9308)
Kampers will enjoy an afternoon by the water learning about boat and water safety. Afterwards, a ride on the water tube on Osoyoos Lake will bring them in charged with excitement.  

Saturday Kamps

Recycled crafts & Outdoor Games
When: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Where: Spirit Ridge Ground
Kampers will be placed in teams and given the opportunity to find hidden and unique items. Followed by a treasure hunt and outdoor games.

Beach Party BBQ
When: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: Spirit Beac
Kampers will be treated to barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers at the Beach House Bistro followed by playtime on the beach on the beach. Kounselors will have beach balls and buckets for sandcastles to enhance their evening entertainment.

Sunday Kamps

Rattle, Ribbets and Rhythm
When: 1:30pm - 4:30
Where: Cultural Centre (Barbara 250-495-7901)
Kampers will enjoy learning about snakes, amphibians and pow wows through guided desert tours and various programs.  They will also be making a culturally influenced crafts, ranging from rock painting to head bands and regalia. We will also be visiting a very unique replica village.  

Aloha Dinner Party
When: 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Where: Spirit Room
Welcome & Farewell, whether you are just arriving or just getting ready to leave us this evenings’ Kid’z Kamp promises great fun. Kampers will enjoy a Hawaiian inspired evening with tiki music and hula lesson accompanied by a pasta station with salads.
